Let's create an International Environmental Education Network for Climate Change

In December 2015, the World Summit in Paris decided to take measures to address Climate Change. In 2016, the International Convention on Climate Protection came into force after the ratification of the Paris Convention by the national parliaments of several countries, including the Greek Parliament.
In this global effort, the role of Environmental Education, information, awareness and activation of students, teachers and the local society will be important. For this purpose the Environmental Center of Vamos  proposes the creation of an International Environmental Education Network for Climate Change , with the collaboration of the Vamos Environmental Education Center, environmental organizations and the voluntary participation of teachers and students from Primary and Secondary Schools from different countries.
The aims of the creation of an International Environmental Education Network for Climate Change are:
·         To give the chance to teachers and students from different countries communicate, exchange ideas and practices about Climate Change education
·         To investigate the impacts and the causes of Climate Change
·         To discuss about the human role in Climate Change
·         To propose solutions, actions and measures that need to be taken
·         To act together through Common Days of Action of our Network informing local societies in many different countries and places.
·         To organize meetings between the members of our Network and common proposals for Erasmus+ and other international programs
Each school Environmental Education team can deal with some (or all) of the following indicative topic modules:
1. Climate change and the human contribution to it.
2. Saving Energy and Renewable Energy Sources.
3. Water and climate change.
4. Cycling and walking, sustainable urban mobility.
5. Creation and protection of green areas inside and outside the school.
6. Local products produced in a natural and organic way, as a way to reduce CO2 emissions.
Teachers who are interested to participate are asked to register their participation by filling in their details and those of their school, as well as the number of students participating in the online form here.
For the Environmental Education Center of Vamos,
Pontikakis Fotios, Director of the Center
